Organisations from across Angus are being supported by the £1.8m Seagreen Community Benefit Fund.
Craig Mullen, SSE Renewables Community Investment Manager, who administers the fund on behalf of project partners TotalEnergies and SSE Renewables, met with Cameron Smith who manages the Arbroath Cliff Trail to see the difference the fund is making.
Craig said: "The Seagreen Community benefit fund was set up to help those communities which were impacted by the construction of Seagreen.
“We want the fund to help leave a legacy for these communities and realise local people’s ambitions to support projects and organisations in their areas.
Arbroath Cliff Trail is one of the causes which has benefited from the fund so far.
Cameron Smith from the organisation said:
“Arbroath Cliff trail is a four mile walk from Arbroath to the fishing village of Auchmithie. The picturesque walk is very popular with locals and visitors alike and there are lots of interesting things to see.
“The money we received from the Seagreen Community Benefit Fund is being used to fund a year’s worth of information flyers, two weatherproof boxes to hold the flyers and also towards the upkeep and upgrade of our website.”
The Seagreen Community Benefit Fund will support projects of various sizes in the coming years with discussions ongoing about creating legacy projects in communities. The focus for the fund is to promote:
Biodiversity and environment
Community Services and Community Spaces
Health and Wellbeing
Sustainability
